Sally Hansen Crackles: Fuchsia Shock and Snow Blast

I have been on a quest for a while now to find a great crackle.  While I was out hunting for polish, I saw that the Sally Hansen Crackles were out. I emailed them to see if they had any samples and I was lucky enough to have 2 sent over: Fuchsia Shock and Snow Blast.  I was skeptical about the white one, Snow Blast, because of the La Rosa white that failed and was too chunky and thick, but I was pleasantly surprised.  :)
Let's start with Fuchsia Shock; it's a super pretty pink that is not a neon but not a boring color either.  I put down a coat of Sally Hansen's Lavender Cloud first which is a super super pale purple... more like a white with a hint of purple under tone. It's a great alternative to white because it doesn't stand out as much and still looks clean. I'm thinking of doing a french manicure with this when my nails grow back out. Ok, back to crackle...

We had some sun today so I went outside to take a picture.  You can see the true color in this outdoor shot. It's such a great color.

Let me tell you about the formula because I am most impressed with it.  If you enlarge my pictures you can see that the crackle does not look bulky or thick. As a matter of fact, it applies like regular polish, dries matte like crackles do, but with one normal coat of clear to seal it, the entire mani was smooth on top.  I have never had this happen with OPI shatters or La Rosa, with the exception of the purple one I think.

Moving onto the way it cracks: yes it does!! I didn't play around too much with pressure when I did this color, but I did with the white one. I used just normal pressure, not a ton of polish and just watched as it cracked.

Let me show you the white one..

First I started with a base of Sally Hansen's Black Diamond (will post more about this another time because it's such a pretty polish)

Ok so remember the white La Rosa I did recently and I hated it? Well, Snow Blast has redeemed my faith in white crackle.  I applied different pressures and amounts to each finger, here's the break down:

Index: light pressure, thin coat
Middle: Light pressure, thick coat
Ring: normal pressure, thick coat
 Little: normal pressure, normal coat

Check it all out, they all cracked wonderfully! Even though you can see the black underneath my index finger (which I purposely chose black to put under to test the opacity), it looks great. I was looking at this mani and it really didn't bother me at all, I actually liked looking at it. I don't think it bothered me because with a top coat, it comes out all smooth and it still doesn't look cakey or thick like other crackles I've tried.
These are a total win for me.  I think I'll pick up Vintage Violet, they come in 8 colors and can be found at Walgreens. If I remember correctly they retailed for around $6.99. Here's more info on colors and also, they dry in 60 seconds which is a huge plus too!
What do you guys think? I think this makes the crackle trend fun again :D

  3. pressure... I mean how hard you push down when applying the polish.. the more pressure you have the more brush you have against your nail, the less pressure, the less brush you have against your nail... that help?

  4. I thought that's what you meant, but I wasn't sure how it worked... I guess I never paid attention when I apply!
