Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics: Lip Tars

This is the second part of my Obsessive Compulsive cosmetics review: lip tars! Here's a bit of information about the Lip Tars from OCC Make up:
A stunning new innovation in lip color, OCC Lip Tar combines the longevity of a lipstick, with the ease of application of a gloss. Goes on slick and moist, and dries down to a satin finish. Ultra-saturated in color, Lip Tar contains an unprecedented amount of pigment - a little goes a very, very long way! An intense yet featherweight layer of color that stands up to the scrutiny of Hi-Def Video and Digital Photography, without ever looking (or feeling!) heavy. Meant to be mixed, Lip Tar comes in concise array of colors for a limitless selection of shades made by you!

Like all of our products, OCC Lip Tar is 100% Vegan and Cruelty-Free, and is also free of parabens and other harsh preservatives. A simple, elegant formula that contains Hemp Oil, Peppermint Oil and Vitamin E, OCC Lip Tar feels as good on the lips as it looks!

DIRECTIONS: Apply the tiniest bead of Lip Tar with our #009 Angle Brush for complete, opaque coverage, either mixed with other shades or straight out of the tube. Applying too much product can result in feathering/bleeding so remember: a little goes a very, very long way!

Let me just tell you about how much I used on my sister in law's lips: a push pin head's worth. Not a tack, a push pin! These are so mega pigmented it's amazing.  Onto the colors: (descriptions from their website)

Momento: soft pink/plum neutral

Dangerous: true mid-toned grey, great on stone cold foxes

Pageant: beauty queen pink/fuchsia

Anime: intense no holds-barred neon pink (so neon my camera had a hard time photographing it)

Demure: deep purple with intense fuchsia undertones

Stalker: true, classic, pin-up blue-based red

Rx: primary cyan blue (matches billiard chalk blue eye shadow!)

Ingredients: Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Cannabis Sativa (Hemp) Oil, Mentha X Peprita (Peppermint) Oil, Tocopherol Acetate (Vitamin E) May Contain: D&C Red #7, D&C Red #30, FD&C Blue #1, FD&C Yellow #6, Iron Oxides, Titanium Dioxide
Because these lip tars are super pigmented, they do stain your make up brushes (best way to apply them by the way). Here's some more information on that along with Frequently Asked Questions. They retail fro $13 and because you need such a small amount, I'm sure you'd be hard pressed to find someone who has finished an entire tube.  I will for sure be using these in the future. They dry semi-matte, they are not a gloss, but you can put a gloss over it to add shine. I've never seen anything like these, I wish every cosmetic brand was this vibrant and pigmented, awesome job Obsessive Compulsive!

  1. Stalker and Anime are my favorites and the look very nice on you!

  2. Ooh I love some of those! Now how long do they stay on?

  3. Love these (but you already Know that!) I need anime in my life!

  4. Love these! (but you already know that!) I need anime in my life!

  5. Interesting. I like they have hemp oil in it. I seem to react well to hemp oil. It's in a product I adore called Earthy Body Miracle Oil - and it really is - it cures that ouch from a paper cut instantly and the hurt does not come right back like it usually does from other products. I use Miracle Oil on all kinds of things. It's a multi-purpose product found at lots of health food stores and Beauty Supply stores as well. Lasts a long time - many swear by it for cuticles. I have other products that my cuticles seem to like better - but still hemp oil works well I found on healing my lips!
