OPI: Mariah Carey Collection for Spring 2013- swatches

The Mariah Carey Collection for OPI is quite unique and really reflects Mariah's style: out there and elegant. Let's get onto the swatches, first up are the non Sand polishes because I want to talk to you more about the sand finish, so onto the cremes...
Anti-Bleak: my favorite of the non sands, raspberry wine creme that is so rich in color it demands elegant attention. I used two coats, no top coat... love this and it will find its way to a pedicure very soon.
Pink Yet Lavender:  A jam packed party of glitters in a bottle! Large salmon colored hex glitters mingle with smaller silver and holographic glitters. This one is dense and what is shown in the pictures is one swipe of the brush; impressive and goes perfect over Anti-Bleak.

Sprung:  A fleck party of copper, gold, pinks and oranges. This is one of the textures/finishes that OPI has down to a science. It's the same great flecks we saw in The Muppets and in Golden Eye, super reflective, this was two coats and no top coat.
A Butterfly Moment: This reminds me a bit of Angel from Nubar. A nude with pink undertones and a golden frost appeal to it. I did two coats, no top and while it's not exactly a show stopper in my book, it is a great alternative to a nude creme.
The Impossible: A strawberry sand polish that has large hex glitter and stars. I had a super hard time getting any stars out of the bottle- I even turned it upside down so it may cause for some fishing. This was two coats.
Can't Let Go: My favorite of the sand polishes. It's a grape with silver or light purple looking glitters throughout. This was two coats, no top coat. It went on smoothly but dry time is a drag, more on that in a second.
Stay The Night: Black sand with small red glitters in it, this was 3 coats and it was taking forever to dry, even with thin coats.
To the left is a picture of 3 of the sands swatched on nail sticks and they have dried over night. You can see the difference between my pictures and the nail sticks- 12+ hours of drying makes a difference. Now while I don't know exactly how long you'd have to wait for these to dry before you started touching stuff, I do know that waiting 5 minutes between thin coats did nothing for me. I got drag with the second coat. My hands were cold too, so that may have something to do with it but just know that if you're going to wear this unique and very cool finish, you will have to be patient. The finishes also remind me of gum drops.... anyone else? It's very cool and worth it - just allow yourself time for it to dry.

  1. I can't wait to get the black & purple liquid sand shades. Sprung looks really pretty, too...I don't think I own anything quite like it.
