Neon Color Blocking

This is a mani my cousin did over the summer and it has been sitting in my drafts folder for much too long. There was supposed to be a YouTube that went with it but, what can I say, she's a teenager and got busy :) Anyways, she took striping tape and taped off over a white base, then used various bright vibrant colors and went back with a black striper inbetween. It's such a cute mani and was perfect for summer. For fall you could change up the colors or, if you're feeling bold, rock the neons!

Jamberry Nails: Tutorial and Review

I have a tutorial/review from Jamberry nails today. So let me tell you about these beauties before we get into details. They are like nail applications but not nail polish, they are more like vinyl and they apply with heat from a hair dryer and pressure. Below the video I've put useful links and the instructions from their website. Sorry the video is out of focus in parts, my camera would not play nice. These specific decals are called "Fireworks" and there's also a holo version! I'm going to wear test a different design for you in about a week and a half so I'll have that result but for now, this is strictly a how to apply and to get you familiar with Jamberry!  You can email Jenni Shirley who is an independent Jamberry consultant, and they retail for $15 which is great because, you cannot get nail art with a manicure for that price!

I have three of the Prismatics for you today, first up is Full Spectrum.

 Full Spectrum is for sure a glitter, as all of these are. It has a pinkish tinted base with shimmer and various colored tiny glitters (including holo glitter!) The larger ones are hexagon and include red, blue, yellow and silver with green thrown in for good measure. This is two coats, I'd recommend one, but I'll get to that in a minute.





Liquid Crystal is one I split up to two photos for you. On my middle finger I did two coats of and on my ring finger I did one coat. I like one coat more because you can see the shimmer in it more. I wouldn't call these duochrome polishes.  Liquid Crystal has a really great pink shimmer to it in a light blueish base. When you do one coat, you see much much more shimmer but once you add that second coat, it goes away and you get more blue.

 Here's a close up of Liquid Crystal and the glitters: large hex in yellow pink, blue, green, silver, red, orange.. you name it, I'm sure it's in there. This is my favorite out of the trio because sparkles like crazy in light.

Last up is Optical Illusion which is more of a green base to it. Again, the glitter is super sparkly and interesting but this one I did two coats (try one for more of a less dense glitter look and get more color).

Overall these three are super glittery and sparkly and I think I'd prefer them as single coat with a color underneath so that the shimmers are showcased more. These are available now, so keep an eye out!

Girly Bits: Magically Delicious

I love me some Girly Bits polish! This is Magically Delicious and it's a great glitter.  I did a coat of Wet N Wild Black Creme followed by one coat of Magically Delicious and then some extra dabs to fill in bare spots.  Magically Delicious has small green and holo glitter with medium gold hex and large gold square glitters, such a neat combo. I don't have any other  polish that has large square glitter like this so application was a learning curve for me. I found that if you put the glitter on arching down, it follows the shape of your nail bed and thus is easier to top coat and lay flat. 

The sparkle in this polish is awesome so I did a little video for you to check out. I had to move my camera to keep it out of focus so you could see the true holo of what it looks like in person. Girly Bits polishes now come in full sizes as well as the minis and the care taken to ship is immaculate and adorable as well.

YouTube tutorial!: 4th of July mani pt. 2

This is a cross post of a guest spot I did for Jeanie of Midnight Manicures .  She has a great blog and an awesome giveaway right now too :)

The 4th of July is right around the corner for Americans! It's a day we celebrate our country's independence, grill some hot dogs, have some refreshing drinks and of course.... wear cute manis! I wanted to do red, white and blue (colors of the USA) but did not want it to be boring.  I used Sinful Colors Snow Me White (SMW), Ruby Ruby (red), Ciao Bella (blue), a silver glitter striper, OPI Birthday Babe and a dotting tool and nail striping tape or you can use scotch tape or french tip nail guides (the straight ones).
