NNS: Pink Holo +M60

This week I guest blogged this mani over at The Crumpet... She's kind of awesome, check her out :) 

This is a new brand to my blog and I really dig it: NNS and it had no name that I could find so we're just calling it "pink holo". It's a medium pink with scattered holo. The holo looks like tv static but ... holo. This was two coats and then I stamped with my  Mash plate M60 using Julep Elizabeth which is a deep metallic purple.  I smudged my pinky but the rest of it turned out pretty well. I liked this mani and I dig the argyle pattern as well. Pink, purple and argyle?! can't go wrong with this one in my opinion. 

China Glaze: Rainstorm

I've had China Glaze Rainstorm in my untried for such a long time, it was about time it got its turn to be used :) Rainstorm is a medium blue jelly with blue and silver shimmer in it. I had a very hard time getting a good picture of the shimmer, but it's there and you can see the jelly shows nail line of course (this was 2 coats). I added Julep Vanessa over it which is a top coat packed with iridescent glitter. It seemed to fit over rainstorm because it looked like rain drops to me. You can see the multi color from the iridescent: blue, pink, green, silver. Really like the blue jelly and soft glitter combo, quick and easy to add some flare to a current mani.

Julep: Demi with Girly Bits: January Morning

Oh man, Pam from Girly Bits kills me with her awesome polishes LOL. This is two coats of Julep's Demi which is a dark wine red creme with great application and shine.  I added one coat of Girly Bits January Morning over Demi. January Morning is from the Calendar Collection and is a top coat that adds so much spice to a mani. JM has blue iridescent shimmers that are just amazing on the nail. I took a quick video of it for you so you could see the shine off of it. I love seeing shiny polishes in motion :)

OPI: DS Diamond + Julep Trina +OB8

The sun was briefly out today so I got the chance to swatch some of my untried holos. First up was DS Diamond. This polish was very pretty but I want more holo! haha It's kind of a dusty purple with mauve intentions and a semi linear holo affect. I did two coats and it was perfect. the pictures of it alone was with no top coat. I then picked up Julep Trina (another untried) and stamped using my fauxnaud OB8 plate in the checkers pattern. I really love the way this turned out. Trina stamped great (love finding new polishes to stamp with) and the combo for me was a win because of all the purple hues. I should add that even though Diamond is  not super holo, it definitely shows and the color alone in the shade is quite pretty.

Julep: Mandy and Hayden + OB10

I have a spring mani for you today! I used Julep Mandy as my main color; a dark coral pink creme that was opaque in two coats. My accent nail is Julep Hayden which is a great soft orange pastel creme, also opaque in two coats with no problems. I wanted to use my new fauxnaud plate I got off ebay, OB10 and some of the images did not stamp. I used Konad special black for over Mandy and on Hayden I used Bettina Aqua and Bonfire. You can see where the hearts didn't fully transfer (see the dots) it's still a super cute mani though and I got lots of compliments when I wore it. I topped with SV for that added shine and the Bettina smeared a bit but overall, it's a cheery mani and a win. 

Julep: Amy and Revlon: Whimsical

I have a duo for you today. Julep Amy and Revlon Whimsical.  Amy is a smokey blue creme and was opaque in two coats with no application problems. It dried a bit semi matte like neons, the picture is without a top coat. I did a coat of Revlon Whimsical over it and I think these two are made for one another. Whimsical is of course the dupe for Deborah Lippmann's Glitter in The Air that I did bottle and swatch shots for Shannon over at Kracked Kat if you want a comparison (but spoiler alert: they're the same). The only real difference is that the base in Whimsical is a tad darker than Glitter in The Air, which I prefer because it layers better and doesn't look cloudy. Not bad for the price either, that is if you can find it. 

Julep: Anne and RA114

Today I have Julep Anne for you. Anne is a lavender creme that dries semi matte. In the swatch photo, there is no top coat, you can see it looks rubbery. I used Kleancolors Metallic Red and Aqua to stamp using the Red Angel 114 plate's heart image.  I liked how the red stood out over the purple, the aqua didn't stand out as much but was a pretty accent finger.  I wore it a few days and the SV did well with it. I had minimal tip wear. I would totally use this design again with the red hearts over a different color for Valentine's Day.

Julep: Sienna

I have a new brand to the blog for you today, Julep! You may have heard about this recently new brand (*giggles*) They've had issues with their referral program and such, but moving onto the polish... I got this polish in a swap and it is the first time I've tried Julep. Here's Sienna, a gold shimmer with the sparkle of a foil! Seriously a gorgeous polish. It was opaque in two coats, no application problems. I stamped using my new Shany plates and red Konad polish. I REALLY hate stamping in red because it is SO messy but I think this was totally worth it. It's been a while since I've done a design where you couldn't tell which color came first so the end result excited me. I think gold and red is a nice change from black stamping and it reminds me of my time in Malaysia, rich and elegant colors. I used SV as a top coat and called it a day. :) Julep retails for $14 a bottle (note the smaller sized bottles).
