Cult Nails: Mind Control

The last polish I have from the Cult Nails latest collection is Mind Control.  It's a deep purple jellyish base (almost black) with micro glitter that's a pink/purple.. pinkle? I did two coats and a top coat of SV, the formula was good (seriously I haven't met a Cult Nails I didn't like). I had a hard time wrapping my tips so there was a little shrinkage.  It's a great vampy winter color though and I'll we bearing this quite often.
NEWS:  I'm adding something cool for the giveaway... a polish jewelry subscription from my Etsy shop (US shipping only). Check out the deets HERE

Essie: Bangle Jangle and Cult Nails: Clairvoyant

Essie's winter 2011 collection includes Bangle Jangle, a muted purple creme with gray undertones.  I used two coats for opacity. I am really loving this polish for fall and winter, it's warm but still happy and not dreary. I did an accent finger with Cult Nails Clairvoyant which is a multi colored flakie that sits in a light purple jelly base. The combo looked better in person but not really a "wow" factor over Bangle Jangle, although I do like how it made Bangle Jangle turn blurple. The Essie winter 2011 collection is available now, Clairvoyant however, is not. They sold out and are waiting for it to come back in stock so be patient.

News: Some giveaway items have been shipped to me and I'll preview some to you as they come in so stay tuned :)

Cult Nails: Power Thief

Love me a brown polish! This is from Cult Nails Super Powers collection; Power Thief. This was two coats that went on smooth, as Cult Nails polish always does.  I love the tone of the brown, it's not chocolate but not taupe.. taupelate? haha. The flecks are small glitter of silver pink and green that are more prominent in the bottle than on the nail. On the nail all the glitter just looks like flecks and silver.  Love this polish tons. It's such a warm color without being too vampy dark; perfect for daytime fall/winter wearing. Another thing to note about Cult Nail polishes is that I've had great wear time with them and no chipping- always a plus! Can't wait to show you the rest of the collection (as soon as I swatch them! haha).

Cult Nails: Time Traveler and Essie: Shine of the Time

I got the new collection from Cult Nails recently and decided to swatch some of them separate for you, mainly because I want to show you combos you can do with the polishes. This is Time Traveler which is another navy jelly for fall/winter that is awesome! I did two coats but you could easily get opacity in one with a steady hand.  The other thing to note about Time Traveler is that it did not look like it would stain when you remove it.  I had no problem getting it off my nails and my fingers.  I topped it with Essie's Shine of the Time from the new Luxe Effects collection for winter 2011.  It is very similar to Nubar 2010 but it's smaller flakes and I'd say is more green. I did one quick coat on top and you can tell it's quite dense. Really love this combo and will probably do it again but with Essie just on my ring finger as an accent because I'm loving navy on my short nails this Fall/winter!

News: The blog has hit 1000 public followers! Thanks everyone for hanging out with me, I have been putting together a giveaway with some great goodies for multiple winners this time. Hopefully it will be up in about a week's time. Stay tuned :)

Cult Nails: Iconic

Over Labor day, Cult Nails had a sale so I purchased a few, this one is great and a current pedicure! Meet Iconic. It's a great candy apple/dark red with gold flakies in it.

I used two coats and it applied like butter, was great! It looks purple in the bottle but on the nail it is very much a pretty red polish.

The flakies are very subtle until you look at it in light. You can see from the pictures in my light box that where the light shines directly against the polish you see gold, where it doesn't you see the rich red.

What do you guys think... flakie enough? We're also almost to 700 public followers and the giveaway.... makes me giddy as a gibbon! You all rock!

Cult Nails: Living Water and stamping

I have another Cult Nails for you today: Living Water! It's a deep navy with teal micro glitter in it. It was opaque in two coats and shined like crazy in the sun.

Out of direct light it looks black but in the sun, you can tell it is a deep navy blue.  It kind of reminded me of the sky at night so I used Sally Hansen Celeb City and my bundle monster 2 plates to stamp stars just on the tips.
It's a beautiful polish and applied really easy and looked much better once a top coat was added for extra sheen.  It's a great color for fall nails but not for a pedi, I think it would be too dark for my taste. Pretty darn happy with the Cult Nails polishes so far.

Thank you all for the Apothica Giveaway feedback, I greatly appreciate it!! It ends this Sunday so you still have time to enter and if you have entered on another blog, use the same entries, I won't tell :)
I also added headbands to my Etsy shop of polish pieces if you want to check it out.

Cult Nails: Hypnotic Collection

I have a new brand for my blog to show you today, Cult Nails. My friend was nice enough to bring over her new Hypnotic Collection and let me take Cult Nails for a run. Let's get to it, they are having a pretty good sale this weekend only so I thought this was a good time to post the collection in case you are thinking of shopping.

First up of the four is Awakening, a dusty teal creme. This was two coats and no top coat. You can tell it's shiny and opaque, no problems with the application. Not a terribly unique color but it is pretty, especially for fall.

Next is a top coat called Hypnotize Me. It's a sheer green jelly base with super blue and green glitter in it that shines and sparkles til your eyes hurt!

I love this polish so much!
Here's a close up of the sparkle.  I kind of wish I took video of this shining because it literally sparkles and is really light reflective, a stunning polish.

The third in the collection is In A Trance.  It's a shimmer that is olive green and shifts to gold. Check out the gold flecky shimmer! It's right on par for the fall trends. This was 2 coats and no top coat; again no application problems.

Last up is the beautiful purple of the collection - Enigmatic.  It's described on Cult Nails as:  a purple base with silver shimmer that draws flashes of red, blue, purple, and pink sparkle in the sunlight.

Totally accurate. I didn't wrap my tips so you can see it pulled away a little. This polish is such a pretty purple and again on par for fall and no application problems.

Check out their sale HERE, it ends today.
