Lex Cosmetics: Darling Daffodil & The Midas Touch

Fall for our new color

One surprising standout color for fall is yellow! So many of them are too bright or too gold. Our new yellow, Darling Daffodil, is the perfect color to brighten up your fall days and give you a break from the darker polishes you tend to lean toward.

Darling Daffodil

Our newest member to the LEX family, this color was created by Kelly. She said that nothing makes her happier than a bright yellow flower, especially daffodils. Yellow nail polish is something that brings a smile to her face & brightens up any outfit. It can be worn year round and is just a fun attention getting color. She said she wold love to see a perfect daffodil yellow with a bit of shimmer or glitter to add an extra spark!

Well, that's what we've got here. You'll notice a touch of gold shimmer in this color.

The Midas Touch

With a touch of gold, this yellow is great. But it's also hot because 10% will be donated to a charity that provides supplies to needy animals.

So, make your paws look good while helping out some other friends with paws :)

Press Release: Lex Cosmetics

Lucky Girls, a campaign that utilizes film and social media to raise funds and awareness for the Theotokos Girl's Orphanage in India, and Lex Cosmetics, a crowd-sourcing based cosmetics company, are teaming up to release a new nail polish color that will benefit the Theotokos Girl's Orphanage. Lex Cosmetics will donate up to $3 from each bottle sold to the orphanage.

"I would have never put nail polish and philanthropy in the same sentence until I heard about Lex Cosmetics and their wonderful philosophy of giving back! Approximately $3 can support one girl daily at the orphanage, so just one bottle can make a huge impact on our girls," say Christiana Thanos, the leader of the Lucky Girls campaign and producer of the Lucky Girls movie (www.theluckygirlsmovie.com)
"Christina has done tremendous work for the Theotokos Girl's Orphanage. Her use of media and her cause are so well-aligned with Lex Cosmetics, there was no question that we should wok together.

Evening Seduction and Medallion!

Just take a second and look at that holo glitter....... done? well look again......... it's OK, I'll wait......

This is China Glaze Medallionm a clear base loaded with gold glitter and holo glitter pieces.  This looks better on than it does in pictures because the holo glitter is larger and you can see it better in movement.

This is one of those where I just look and look at it and wiggle my finger in the light :) I layered it over Lex Cosmetics Haggard Life... I think the next time I use Medallion, I won't layer it.  I don't think it needs it because it's packed with glitter and this was just one coat :) get your foil ready girls because you'll want to glitter bomb your nails with this if you haven't already! :)

I topped it off with China Glaze Fast Forward and it smoothed out but it was still a bit textured. Small price to pay for prettiness, imo.

Evening Seduction by China Glaze is an uber deep purple/brown color.  It is actually listed on their website under brown but is a very deep purple.  It almost looks like a black cherry color, but it's not :)

It was opaque in 2 coats, I did 3 because I wanted to smooth out some of my mistakes :)

Look at this up close, it's got a great finish, this is without a top coat.

It has a vinyl like finish but is clearly a creme.  When I did the first coat I worried it was too purple/streaky... but that wasn't a problem, it finished nicely and I want to stamp in silver over this color :)

Lex Cosmetics- My Haggard Life

I know I said I was going to try more nudes... but... check out this chocolatey goodness! Purple is my top color but chocolate browns are my top neutrals/darks.  This was 3 coats; it can be opaque in 2 but my ocd kicked in ;) .. i topped it off with SV and did SV base.

first impressions: the bottle is adorbs- check it out, the odor is not strong (which is nice when you're swatching so you don't get loopy), the formula is creamy and does not run (easy to get coverage with).

Haggard life has a little bit of micro glitter in it... look close at your nails after you apply it- it's there and a wonderful surprise.  The chocolate color is great with mahogany undertones and with each layer you add it becomes more rich.  I provided a full hand shot because you have to see how this looks from a distance.. it's not gothy or obnoxious.

Other cool things about Lex Cosmetics :
~ they give back! to me this is a huge deal and a smart business decision as well.  Each polish has a charity (picked by consumers) which a donation is made.  Haggard Life's charity is Dress for Success which this color would be great to wear in a business environment :)
~ They are 3 Free- because who wants to torture their nails! (can read more about the harms on their site)
~ The company/polish was created by a 20 something and it shows in the fun young professional colors

I encourage you to read more about this company because it really is awesome that they are so involved in giving back and have such great ethics and it's important to know who you are buying from :)

Also- did you notice the blog is over 100 followers now? I'm going to add to the giveaway as a huge thanks to everyone!
