YouTube Water Marble

As I have mentioned before, I'm a HUGE soccer fan, also a big NHL fan too.  I had a soccer game to go to on Saturday for the San Jose Earthquakes and their colors are blue, black, white, so I water marbled. I attempted the Earthquakes colors once before Here and it turned out to be more like San Jose Sharks hockey colors... so here we go again: Wet N Wild Metallica, Zoya Crystal (wanted to see the gold flecks!) and China Glaze Liquid Leather.  I can't say I was too in love with this marble.  The colors were ok, nothing too exciting and the designs just didn't come out as hoped.  I was having major trouble getting the water at a proper room temperature because it was cold here and room temp was like 64 degrees. Needless to say it was frustrating. When I filmed the mani the next day for the YouTube tutorial, I decided to switch Crystal with China Glaze's Adore and Metallica with OPI Birthday Babe (watch the video for how it turned out).  There was no way Crystal was showing up on camera, but Adore did so that was good. The whole point was to have a nice water marbling tutorial for those of you who have been asking and let's just say this one is considered a short "get familiarized with water marbling" video :)

Water Marble: friend marble!

 Here's another edition of Monkey water marbling...

Part of the reason I like marbling on my friends is because they like such different colors and it makes it more fun because I seem to always lean towards the same colors (hello purple!).


For this mani, we used a base color of Sally Hansen's The Real Teal and used that in the marble along with Wet N' Wild Black Creme and Sally Hansen's Mellow Yellow.  The Sally Hansen's were a win, the Black Creme was ok, but I think it dried too quick and when I went to drag, I had snags instead sometimes.  Also, we dipped two fingers at a time and I think that when you do this and are inexperienced with making designs, as I am, you get really inconsistent designs- but I like that! I think that if you were to water marble the same design, you may as well stamp.  At least that's how I feel for now haha!


We taped her fingers off and she was great at dipping them in on the designs.  We cleaned up and topped off with SV.  What do you guys think? I've come to really like using my drugstore polishes to marble with because you use so much polish that you don't blow through an expensive bottle as fast.

Water Marbling, take 1

While my little cousin was over filming for the You Tube tutorial, we decided to try water marbling for the very first time.  It's quite messy but fun.

We did one finger at a time (will for sure do 2 next time!), and used OPI's Purple With a Purpose, What's With the Cattitude and Sally Hansen's Celeb City.  So let me just say up front, sorry for the clean up... it was next to impossible to get all the celeb city glitter bomb off her hands LOL


The middle finger on this hand was her favorite.  We took these pictures in my light box.   I have never done marbling before so I totally winged the designs and told her where to aim when she dipped her finger in the water.  It was quite comical every time she pulled out her finger we'd be like "OOHHH!!! I like that one!!" and then she'd stare at it forever  :)

I'm going to try this on my nails at some point.  What do you think.. would you want to see this in a tutorial on You Tube?
