Wet N Wild: Jet Set Palette Looks

Hi Monkeys! I have a make up post for you today written by my friend Katie. She did some looks with the Fergie palette, enjoy and thanks Katie!!

I have been having so much fun playing with my new Wet n Wild Fergie Jetset Palette and I wanted to share some of the fun with all of you. I did three looks for you lovelies.

First is a full face look that I called “Everyday Pinup”.

Products used:
Eyes:
(a)    Light Biege shadow
(b)   Sparkly Bronze Brown shadow
(c)    Black liner pencil topped with Matte Black shadow

Cheeks:
(d)   Bright Pink blush
Lips:
            Lip pencil
(e)    Red lip color

Next, is an eye look I call “Subtle Purple”

Products used:
            ( f) Matte Lilac shadow
(g)   Sparkly Eggplant shadow
(h)   Sparkly Light Purple-Pink shadow
(i)     Black liner pencil topped with Sparkly Eggplant shadow

Last, a fun eye look I call “Fall Colors”

Products used:
(j)     Orange shadow
(k)   Matte Rust shadow
(l)     Sparkly Gold shadow )
(m)  Brown liner pencil topped with Sparkly Evergreen shadow

Overall, I'm impressed with the palette.  I haven't used Wet n Wild products since I was a poor college student, but this palette was a great deal and I have heard good things about it.  While the eye colors are not highly pigmented they are great for everyday wear and apply smoothly and evenly.  The blush colors are all very flattering, even on my light skin, and go on nice and sheer.  I didn't have much success with the face powders.  The “bronze” color is too orange for me, and the white and pink colors didn't show up at all on my skin.  I absolutely love the lip colors.  They feel great and there are so many wonderful colors.

My only con with the palette, as with any large full face palette like this, is that you can't take the lip color you chose for the day with you.  Maybe if I was just going to work I would take the whole thing with me to reapply during the day, but I'm not going to lug the whole thing with me on a night out.  I suppose I could de-pot my favorites, but that just doesn't work with my laziness :). Note to cosmetics companies out there: make the lip pans more portable.

Wet N Wild: Jet Set Palette (Fergie)- pictures and review

A little something different for you today- make up! This is the Wet N Wild Jet Set Palette from Fergie. This palette is actually like a cube that opens and each side tiers down to 3 levels. The box says that there is all this included:
72 shimmer eyeshadows
24 creme eyeshadows
24 lipstick/lip glosses
6 blushes
3 bronzers
2 eye pencils
7 brushes/applicators
1 mirror

It's pretty awesome. It is held together when closed by magnets so it keeps a chic profile. I haven't used any of it yet, that's for another post, but the shadows I was touching seemed really pigmented and silky. These are at Wal Greens and retail for $30 right now and are limited edition. I think it's well worth it. The eye shadows aren't your typical small and shallow pots, they're larger and the fact you could take this traveling and have pretty much everything you need is a huge plus. I'll have looks with this soon but for now, enjoy some pictures.

Black (matte) & NYX Delectable gradient with CH44

I have been wanting to do a black matte glitter gradient and well, this is what I came up with. I started with Wet N Wild Black Creme, and a random NYX pink glitter that had gold flecks in it then topped it using Essie Matte About You. I took Konad special white and stamped an image from the new Cheeky CH44 plate. I like that the flowers are matte but because they are pre-production plates, the images aren't as clear as they will be, but still it's pretty cool. I like it without the stamping and with so I'm a bit torn, but I do know I'd do a black and glitter gradient matte mani again.

CND Effects: Lavender Pearl

I have a random post for you I pulled out of my drafts today. CND Lavender Pearl over Wet N Wild Black Creme. I've been experimenting lately with the CND effects and forgot I had this post in draft :) Lavender Pearl is quite pretty over black and flashes purple with bits of blue and red. I only did one coat of Lavender Pearl over black but I'm assuming that if you do more than one coat, the effect will be even more spectacular. I also want to try layering it over a white, gray and purple... to be put on the list!

Monkey See Monkey Do Monday: Ladybugs

Welcome to another edition of Monkey See Monkey Do Mondays! I have ladybugs for you today.. indecisive lady bugs... mainly because I couldn't figure out what the black dot in the center of the mani was that I was copying, I changed it up... twice...

Ok, so first my mani was plain and it just looked funny to me, so then I added black eyeballs and more dots for a cartoon ladybug look thinking that would work better. I do like the dots better on the bottom mani because it looks less real and more fun-like. After a while though, it was just brutal to keep looking at a ladybug... everything started to look funny (kind of like when you say a word so many times in a row it sounds funny after a while). I think the bottom mani was my win.

Sunday Challenge: Black and White

For this week's Sunday stamping challenge the theme was black and white. I knew I wanted to do something different, something I hadn't tried before. I've been sick all week and feel like this is a fail but the thought was there. I started off with a coat of Wet N Wild French White as a base for my Red Angel 112 image of scrolls and flowers. I stamped that using Konad special black polish because I needed lots of pigment. I then took Essie's Marshmellow and did a coat over the stamp. Here's where the fail came in... .I should have top coated the black *then* stamped because it smeared the image more than usual. The Red Angel plate is etched pretty deep as well so there is a lot of polish transfer to the nail. I want to revisit this mani again but try a top coat over the black so that it comes out less smudgy and Marshmellow can apply less streaky.
You can check out everyone else's Sunday challenge manis on my Pin Board. I update it throughout the day so check often!

Happy St. Patrick's Day Mani!

Happy St. Patty's Day everyone! I have a simple yet fun green mani for you today. I used a coat of Bettina Mojito with two coats of China Glaze He's Going In Circles (a green holo) over it. It was super hard to capture the holo so I blurred the picture a bit (blurred for your pleasure heh.). I then stamped with Red Angel 116 with the huge heart clover stamped in Wet N Wild Black Creme the dropped in green rhinestones to the middle of the clovers. I quite like this mani however it is not the one I am wearing for St. Patty's Day... more on that Monday :) Have a great day monkeys!

Bettina: Mojito + RA-116

With St. Patrick's Day a little over a week away, I thought I'd do a simple mani for you today. I started with two coats of Bettina Mojito, a dark grassy green creme. It applied easily and was very opaque. I used Wet N Wild White on my ring finger as an accent, two coats of that and I was good to stamp. I used Red Angel 116 and stamped the clover using Konad special white polish and on my accent finger I used Mojito to test out the stamping... not too bad, not perfect though. I took a Color Club art striper that had silver holo glitter and did a little design around the clovers. Overall an easy  mani for St. Patrick's Day and I got to play with another Bettina. :)

Bettina: Cotton Candy + CH15

This is my Valentine's Day mani that I've been wearing for 4 days now, may be even 5! I used Bettina Cotton Candy as a base (2 perfect coats). It's literally the perfect pink of cotton candy. I then took nail striping tape and taped off tips that I used Wet N Wild Black Creme on, then stamped using my Cheeky plate #15 which has these cute hearts going up and down.  I smudged my pinky a bit but overall I really love this mani!

Essie: Knockout Pout with Pirate Stamping

This is probably one of my favorite manis to date right now. I started wtih 3 coats of Essie's Knockout Pout: a Pepto bright pink creme. I used 3 coats because my first was really sheer but if you did 2 generous ones, you'd be golden.  I got new plates off ebay and wanted to use them asap so I used the full image skull and crossbones stamped in Wet N Wild Black Creme from plate OB8. I used Konad special black and plate OB5 to stamp the big skull and crossbones. I used Konad special white and the same plate for the bow. I tried using a Kleancolors metallic for the bow but it didn't stand out enough, so I just stamped over it and you really don't notice it too much in person. I think this mani is a total win for me.

Last week to enter my giveaway, go check it out, Essies, make up, jewelry, cool polishes and more!

Nail Art: Cupcake Mani on Friend

I did this mani for my friend's birthday today! Happy Birthday M! I've been meaning to try a cupcake mani and decided she was the perfect one to sport it.  I used Essie Mint Candy Apple for the back ground color, sinfulcolors white for the frosting, Orly Fancy Fuschia for the cup part with OPI Do You Lilac It? for the stripes, Sparktacular for the sprinkles and Kleancolors Metallic Red for the cherry. The whole cherry on top of the cupcake confuses me, when I bake them I don't put cherries/candies on top of the frosting but when you do it as a mani, it looks funny without one... *shrug* Anyways, this was my first attempt, I'll probably try it on myself but as accent nails as to save time :-)

Christmas Penguin Mani

I am so in love with this mani! I used Sinfulcolors white and Wet N Wild Black Creme. I stamped using my Mash plate set (LOVE the bow)! Over the black base I also did China Glaze Golden Enchantment which is like Fairy Dust but with gold sparkle.  I also started printing and selling water decals through my etsy shop. I chose the cute penguins with a Santa hat on for my accent finger. The mani reminded me of a tuxedo and so it seemed natural to put a penguin decal on :-) What do you think? I love it, it's festive but not with your normal holiday colors. Total win!

Giveaway Teaser: Trinity Designs

I have a preview today of one of the sponsored items that will be in the 1000 follower giveaway! This is a make up brush roll from Trinity Designs. When you unroll it, it has 10 brush slots and a large pocket. It's machine washable on cold, dry laying flat and you can take a cotton set iron to it... and it's of course perfect for storing your make up brushes.
I did a themed mani to mirror the colorful patterns on the brush roll. I used a combo of Wet N Wild polishes, Sally Hansen Pacific blue and stamped with Konad special black using a Mash plate.  A huge thank you to Cassia and be sure to check out her creative ideas on her facebook page as well!
One last thing, I kind of really like the skittle stamped look, can't believe I haven't done it before!

Sally Hansen: Lapis Amethyst striping tape mani

I came across some Sally Hansen Nail Prisms and thought I'd test out Lapis Amethyst over black.  I did one coat of Wet N Wild Black Creme (my favorite black ever) then taped off my nails with striping tape and did one coat of Lapis Amethyst over/between taped off areas. On my accent finger I used an ICE polish that has small purple glitter/shimmer to it. Lapis Amethyst is quite a duochrome, it flashes purple and green/blue. You can see it in some of the pictures but it was more apparent in person. I also included a blurred picture in the middle so youc an see the shiimmer in LA, it's pretty awesome! Since this polish is sheer, I'll probably be layering it over lots of other options. It's great and reminds me of Zoya Ki or Deborah Lippmann Wicked Game.... may be I'll have a comparison for you soon :)
News: I'm selling nail decals from my Etsy store now if you're interested, I can make custom ones as well!

Teal and Black Striped Mani

Ok, so I'm on a striping mani kick again. I love using my striping tape for it! Here's my YouTube on how to use the tape for designs. I recently went to a NHL (hockey) game and wanted to do the team colors in a mani, this is what I came up with. Diamond Cosmetics "Don't Teal my Heart Away" and Wet N Wild Black Creme. I only had to use one coat of DTMHA and one of Black Creme, so it was quick to do as a full mani. I think the longest part was cutting the tape! You will probably see a few more of these from me, as I had forgotten about them ;-) Anyways, an easy mani once you get the hang of the taping, hope you like!

News: I have added a new item to my Etsy store... custom nail water decals, check them out :)

Zoya: Juno

Zoya Juno was kind of a bummer for me. I loved the way it looked in the bottle, you can see purple and blue and green like an oil slick, but on the nail it's totally different. 3 coats by itself it's still pretty; a shimmery mauve purple.  The bottom left picture is Juno over a base coat, the other pictures have my accent finger with a coat of Wet N Wild Black Creme under Juno. You can see that the polish changes colors with the black under it.  I'll have to layer this over a few more colors but what I really want it to look like on my nails is what it looks like in the bottle!
News: picked up more things for my 1k follower giveaway and sponsorships are coming through, I think you'll be excited :)

Wet N Wild: Cost is No Issue

I have a few polishes from the Wet N Wild Ice Baby limited edition collection to show you but this one I wanted to highlight all by itself. Cost is No Issue is a great steel blue small glitter with large teal hex glitter. I did not use a top coat on this and you can see how shiny it comes out.I did 3 coats with the exception of my middle finger, that was 2 so I could macro it and show you the glitters (you can enlarge the picture if you need to). Since these are limited editions, they are once again hard to find, but even I found them so may be the stores ordered more because it's a holiday collection. You can check out Nouveau Cheap and her interactive map to see if they're spotted in your area. Like I said, I have others to show you from this collection (as skittles) but this one looked awesome solo. I wouldn't mind going through the trouble of taking this glitter off... so worth it.

Halloween Mani: Candy Corn, Pumpkin Faces

Happy Halloween everyone!! I have a happy mani for you today. I started with two coats of Essie's Brooch the Subject which is a taupey tan creme, opaque in two coats. Really like this color and want to do stamping over it for a subtle look.  I used one coat of Wet N Wild Creepy Pumpkin which is an orange sparkle jelly in a tombstone bottle.  I went a little crazy and did some freehand nail art.  After I did the pumpkin faces I realized I did them 'inside out' ... like smiley faces instead of carved pumpkins, but they're still cute and happy. The candy corn on my middle finger was random and I wanted to put purple around it using a dotting tool.  My little finger is just a combination of dots consisting of China Glaze Lemon Fizz, Wet N Wild Black Creme and China Glaze Grape Juice (a glittery purple). This mani is quite the Halloween skittles for nail art but it's cheery so I like it :)

Halloween Mani: Glitter Ghosts

I feel like I've been so uncreative lately when it's come to Halloween manis, so here is one I did on a whim. I was however inspired by Jen from Jen's Painted Tips. See, this whole time looking at my Bundle Monster 2 plates, I always thought this ghost image was a snail or something.... then Jen used it and said "Oh hey, it's a ghost!". I then proceeded to use it in this mani and another one I'll show you LOL. Thanks Jen for the different perspective! OK, back to the mani. I came home from Hawaii to a Secret Pumpkin package from Jeanie at Midnight Manicures and it included the cute tombstone Wet N Wild Fantasy Makers polish in Black Magic! This polish is a black creme that has green, orange and yellow micro glitter. I think it may be a dupe for Blackmail, so I'll have to compare the two.  Anyways, I did 2 coats then took a fan nail art brush and dabbed Nova from China Glaze on the tip and up one side. Nova is a chunky hex and square holo silver glitter. Then I used Konad special white polish and stamped the ghost! There is some overlap with the glitter and the ghost but it was still a stellar mani, may end up wearing this on Halloween!

Guest post from the awesome Mandy today! Check out her great Halloween nail art, you rock girl!!!

Hey Everyone, this is Mandy from www.muddinmakeupmayhem.com where I test out lots of cool stuff, looks and nails so gals can be cute when they play in the mud!

I "borrowed" lots of ideas from many of the mani's I have seen out there. So if this looks like yours, consider this the most sincere form of flattery!

My pinky is the orange from the OPI Tattoo Ta-Boo pack- Tattoo You Want Candy topped with a glow in the dark orange franken that I made. The face is made with my Art Club black detail pen.

The ring finger is OPI Skull and Glossbones topped with China Glaze Ghoulish Glow and the mummy is drawn with my white and black Art Club detail pens.

The cute Frankie on my middle finger is OPI Stranger Tides topped with OPI Zom-body to love, and drawn with  my black and white Art Club pens.

The Vampire on my pointer is made with Art Club Periwinkle topped with OPI Glow Ink The Dark from Tattoo Ta-Boo. His face is drawn with black, white and red Art Club detail pens.

Finally my thumb is Neon Green from Art club, made into a Glitter Sammi with OPI Crown Me Already and Wet and Wild Tangled in My Web, topped with 2 coats of OPI Zombody to Love. The awkward lil ghostie is made with my Art Club detail pens.

Everything is topped with Seche Vite!

These guys glow like crazy, they are driving my poor kitty, Sixx insane. :) Of course I have yet to capture them on film correctly. So if anyone has any advice for taking pictures of glow junk- head on over to my blog and give me some tips!! (I have a Sony DSLR to take pics with)

I hope you like my mani, I think its cartoony and cute, and it glowed like crazy for the Light Up the Night walk in The Woodlands yesterday.

Love,
Mandy
