Pure Ice: Sparks Fly Collection

Pure Ice has out a great quartet that would've been perfect for 4th of July... or any patriotic day really.. .or, if you just want a red, white blue mani... The white is amazing- opaque in two easy coats and is also matte so it dries quick. The red and blue are also matte colors and the perfect hues for the American flag. I topped my dotticure off with the glitter (small blue, medium gold hex and holo stars in a clear base), appropriately called "Sparks Fly". I didn't get any of the stars out but the rest came out just fine. Such an easy  mani and the formula from Pure Ice is always great, plus they're easy to find which is convenient. May be rock this look on Labor Day if you missed this set for the 4th of July. By the way, my ring finger ... that is two coats of Sparks Fly.. love the density (one coat for the dots). You could leave the topper off and still have a matte mani, but I couldn't resist the chance of getting a star glitter :)

As always, all of Pure Ice’s nail enamels contain a long-wear formula and are free of formaldehyde, toluene and DBP.  (SRP $1.99) Available at Wal-Mart stores (Canada, Mexico, & Central America).

Pure Ice: Teal Appeal and Happy Hour chevrons

Recently I did a fun mani using 4 Pure Ice products. For this look, I used 2 colors, chevron vinyls for templates and the Pure Ice base and top coats. Their new base coat is good; Girl On The Go. It dried fast, easy to apply and I had no problems with it. The amazing salmony peach color is such a great creme. The application was perfect and it dried fairly quick. I topped it with Teal Appeal (such a great navy creme that was opaque for this in one generous coat). I like the color combo and contrast of these two together. I topped with the Pure Ice Seal the Deal and had a little smudging... I should have waited longer for Teal Appeal to dry. Still a great look and very affordable. You can find Pure Ice at Wal Mart stores, and online.  You can also check them out on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Instagram.

Pure Ice: Magnetic Attraction- Electrify Me

Good news everyone! If you follow me on Facebook you'd see an update on my finger :) and that I started swatching again.. finally! I've had this for a while to post it's Pure Ice Magnetic Attraction in Electrify Me. Electrify Me is a great copper and bronze magnetic. I did two coats- first one to dry then a thick one to magnet. The magnets are a bit tricky at first, they're like a little tunnel you put over your nail. OVER your nail not your nail UNDER the magnet as that would cause a bad effect; once you have a magnet in place, you leave it be for a few seconds, you never want to move it across the nail. Application was a breeze and so was using the magnet, plus, I really liked this color on me and is perfect for fall. The Pure Ice fan page on Facebook is HERE (not sure if it's an official one or not, but worth checking out). Unfortunately I don't have info on this as to when it will be out or how much it will be (It may already be available in stores where you'd usually find Pure Ice products).
For a location near you or to purchase Pure Ice online, check out their website.

Patriotic Mani Using Pure Ice: Crimson, Flash, French Kiss

Hi Monkeys! I have a patriotic mani I did for you today using Pure Ice polishes. It's Olympic time so I thought this was quite appropriate!
This was the final look but I started with a coat of white polish followed by a coat each of Crimson (a shimmery medium red), French Kiss (the perfect American Blue) then last I added Pure Ice's white crackle: Flash as stripes.. then I realized I did it backwards as a flag but yet it's right if it's facing me... I love this mani and am sure to rock it as a full mani in the near future for the U.S. women's soccer team. I stamped the stars using Cheeky CH 4 from their first series. I didn't use tape for this mani, I just winged it and I must say, not too shabby if I do say so myself :)
As far as formula with these polishes, they were fantastic, pictured is one coat over white and dry time was quick. I also like the fact that the crackle still cracked even though I had a coat of SV over the blue side so I could stamp faster; not all crackles are created the same :) Overall a fun mani and a great way to show support for the games!

Monkey See Monkey Do Monday: Pure Ice Vinyl Remix (review)

I have something very cool today for my Monkey See Monkey Do Monday mani..  I saw Dori at Kiss My Acetone do multi colored nails with the Pure Ice Vinyl Remix. I have a review for these as well today. Check it out...
So what's cool about these is that they're duos: a white base (creamy and opaque with no streaks in one coat) and a crackle with color in the other bottle. Here's the colors they come in:
Glam Rock  Rock Star  Vintage Remix  Emcee Me  Rave DJ Spinner
Like Dori did, I swirled each color on over the base and created a little pattern (she did more of a diagonal design). The formula is amazing and shatters perfectly like the other Pure Ice Crackles do. I'm not really sure how these work but it's quite awesome. I love the fact that you don't have to sponge or paint your color *then* do a crackle coat, you just do a single coat of the white that comes with your color then you can come up with a great design. To see the polish in action, check out Jen's Painted Tips video. Also, you can check out the rest of the Monkey See Monkey Do Manis on my Pinterest board. You can find these at Wal-Mart and online  starting in May so keep an eye out.

Pure Ice: Not Now and LIghtning Light

Pure Ice Not Now is a great green shimmer for St. Patty's Day. I used 3 coats for a smooth opaque finish. Not Now is a great deep green shimmer polish and has a hint of blue undertones. It's quite striking! I topped it with Strobe Light   Lightning Strike which is a silver glitter crackle top coat. The thing I like about this combo is that the rich green still shows well in the cracks as a great contrast to the silver glitter, yet   Lightning Strike gives great coverage even over a dark color. It is also smooth with one coat of SV over the crackle.  So this could be a simple mani for St. Patty's Day if you lack in the nail art talent area, and it's affordable, $1.99 suggested retail price for the Not Now and can be purchased online or in Wal-Mart stores.

CORRECTION: the crackle is Lightning Strike, Strobe Light is the gold crackle!

Pure Ice: Excuse Me and Catwalk

This is Pure Ice Excuse me which is a stunningly bright yellow frost. I used 3 coats that went on smooth and then used a top coat of SV. The yellow is literally an electric yellow and is quite on trend with celebrities and spring right now. Celebrities such as Seal have been seen wearing bright yellow polish lately, not just creme but frost/metallic hues. This is a great alternative to stubborn yellow creme polishes for spring. The other part of this post is Catwalk which is another crackle from Pure Ice. The Pure Ice crackles are impressive, especially since it's so shimmery. The only problem I had was figuring out what polish to put underneath a sheer crackle. I chose poorly: Bettina Bonfire which is a coral red/orange creme. I think it would look best with a gray or a nude polish, but the combo wasn't horrid and you can see that it cracked very well, even over a top coat.
You can see my other swatches of Pure Ice crackles HERE, and they can be purchased HERE. The regular colors retail for $1.99 and the crackles for $4.39. (p.s. There's a ton of crackle colors, check them out!)

Pure Ice: Crackle Ice and Strike a Pose and Strobe Light- swatches

Today I have the Pure Ice Strobe Light and Strike a Pose Duo for you. If you remember, here is my press release I told you about this a bit ago. First up is the Strobe Light duo: a super glittery warm gold with holo glitter throughout. I used two coats and had barely any visible nail line. I put a coat of SV over it then did the black crackle. You can see it cracked super well and with another coat of SV over that, it was smooth. This was my favorite of the two duos. Next is Strike a Pose and the Teal crackle. Strike a Pose is a true silver glitter that still leaves nail line but doesn't really matter seeing how you are putting crackle over it. I wanted to try something different so I did not put a top coat before I tried the crackle. You can see that you need a top coat over the glitter before you do the crackle or else it comes out textured and not smooth. Great combo, just use a top coat kids!
The duos retail for about $6 and can be purchased online HERE

NYC, Ice and some Bundle Monster

Since I enjoyed NYC Scenestealer Grey so much, I decided to layer it and stamp over it.  I used Pure Ice Heartbreaker which is a teal shimmery sheer top coat. I then took my bundle monster 2 plates and stamped flowers over in white using Konad special polish. I topped with a coat of SV as well.

Whenever you use the Konad special polishes, make sure when adding your SV or top coat that your brush doesn't touch your polish; if it does it will smear the stamp.  I only really have this problem with the special polishes.

Anyways, check out the shimmer... it's really pretty and eye catching.

And a reminder if you haven't entered my Apothica giveaway, do it! :) It's kind of a process but the Facebook option 2 is the quickest and easiest if you don't have Twitter :)

I have a Too Face make up palette coming up this week that you can buy from there too.
