Double Funky French and Gems

Recently I did a funky french because I couldn't remember the last time (if ever) I've done a double lined french mani. I started with two coats of Milani Fresh Teal followed by Black Swift and White on The Spot for french tip lines. My accent finger is Milani Gems which is a similar/dupe to Deborah Lippmann's Happy Birthday. Gems is basically a bunch of colorful glitters of small and medium hexes: red, yellow, blue, silver, green, pink all in a clear base. It's a dense glitter, pictured is one coat. Kind of a boring manicure if you're used to doing or seeing nail art but for those who aren't into the art, this should impress anyone who's not desensitized to nail art :)

Stamping Sunday!: Pets (Orly Glowstick, Skinnydip and Floam)

This week's theme for stamping was Pets (or something of the like). I ended up doing a leopard funky french. I was going to do the basic kitty paws etc but then decided that was boring and my kitty has spots on his belly so.... you get feline spots today. I started off with Orly Glowstick (two coats) which is an eye searing yellow creme and Orly Skinnydip; a shimmery bright neon blue creme. I've had Floam sitting in my untrieds for over a month now so finally I used that to add some tips... Floam is pretty darn cool... it's blue and yellow glitter in a clear base... then I decided it was time to stamp so I pulled out my Konad M57 plate for the leopard/cheetah print.  If you want, you can check out the Pinterest board I have for the Stamping Sunday Challenges HERE.

Funky French with CH2 plate

Ahhh nude funky frenches how I love you so. I tipped my nails with Kleancolor Metallic Purple, which of course shows a blurple. I wanted to do more with my cheeky plates so I picked up #2 and stamped the heart using Kleancolor Metallic Aqua .... I do love stamping with the Kleancolors! I was totally digging this mani until my friend asked me if I stamped Hershey Kisses for Valentine's Day LOL. I freehanded my tips so they're not perfect but they look pretty great, if I do say so myself! Love me some funky french paws!

China Glaze: QT

I have another holo for you today from the China Glaze OMG 2BHOT collection: QT. QT is a reddish pink linear holo. I used two coats for opacity, no top coat and stamped using Kleancolor Purple Metallic. I used Red Angel RA101 plate for my funky french tips.  I wore this mani for only two days but it was sunny those days so it was really great to look at.  The formula of QT was good, did not have drag and dried fast, I didn't even have to put SV on it before I stamped over it because it was already dry.  Win! As with all of the China Glaze holos, this has become hard to find as well.  It's great though and probably worth it if you love holo and pinks.

Also, please vote for my mani over at Julep's NOTD contest!

OPI: Movin Out

I recently picked up OPI Movin' Out off Ebay. I thought I'd give an oldie a try and see how it was.  I laid down a base of Skin Food Taupe (as I'm calling it) and then 2 coats of Movin' Out. This polish is from before the lacquers were 3 free (ya, they have chemicals in them) and it smelled strong.  The polish is a shimmer that is really amazing. Over this color it really showed it's gold and rose side.

There is the ever slightest hint of green in it and will flash if its in the proper light.

I put black tips on thinking it would be fun (if you remember I already had the black tips from the Skin Food taupe post) so I just taped off my tips again with nail striping tape and painted the tips. I re-painted rather than just taping off and painting only Movin' Out because I wanted the black more clean and straight. I wasn't satisfied with them the first time I tried over Skin Food. I wish I would have taken pictures of this in the sunlight because it is so shiny and glassy looking. Really a great polish .. I suggest enlarging the pictures so you can see the shimmer and flecks of awesome.

Skin Food: Taupe Shimmer

I have another awesome Skin Food polish for you today. We'll call this one a Taupe Shimmer (because remember, they don't have names, just numbers).

I applied 2 coats but you can get away with one, no problem. These polishes are so pigmented I love it!!  It's a taupe but it has a gold/champagne shimmer to it that is so pretty and eye catching.

I wanted to try my first funky french so I added black tips... they didn't exactly come out perfect but meh, it's ok because I changed the mani up after. You will have to wait and see how I changed it!

I like the look of black tips but I'm not crazy about them on this color.  It reminded me of a tuxedo for some reason.. but a brownish one. I like my revamp of it better.. stay tuned for that in a different post. I have a ways to go with perfecting the black tips but it wasn't too shabby for the first round. I mostly just wanted to show you the awesome Skin Food polish!
