OPI: Give Me The Moon and Shatter Skittles

This was my birthday mani. It was pretty much all the nail art I could do while sick.  The hubs gave me OPI Give Me The Moon as one of my birthday gifts (love ya babe!). I used 2 coats of this gorgeous shimmery dusty gray with purple undertones. It flashes blue and purple depending on which angle you are looking at. Love this polish! *crosses it off my wishlist* I had no energy to do nail art but was tired of having naked nails so I grabbed OPI Turquoise Shatter and LaRosa's purple crackle. I also did my thumb with Sally Hansen's Fuchsia Shock. I didn't include a picture of but I really love this top coat, their formulas are wonderful and crack like champions!

Russian Navy and Gold La Rosa: take 2

Ok, so here's a follow up post of OPI Russian Navy Matte with La Rosa's Gold Crackle.  In the top picture where I'm holding the crackle bottle, I put a top coat over the matted Russian Navy.  I also did thick coats of crackle on my ring and little finger, thinner coats on my middle and index fingers.

If you add a top coat over the Russian Navy it will not crack as well.  I think that forgetting the top coat helped for cracking more but I'm still undecided about this combination.  

I want to like it, I really do, and it looks much better in person, but I'm still neutral on it.  May be I'll revisit this mani another time and see how I feel about it. 

OPI Russian Navy & Gold Crackle

When I posted Zoya's Stacy under La Rosa's gold crackle, someone wanted to see it over a dark color... well...

Here it is... The darkest blue I have is OPI's Russian Navy Matte.  I really don't like this combo and I'm not sure if it's because the matte needed a top coat for the crackle to break up more.


It looks dirty to me. If it had broken up more, I may be on board with this combo because the gold crackle is really pretty and shimmery, but like this, not so much.

The key to making this look better may be to:
1) top coat the matte before adding crackle
2) put the crackle on thick so it does not show the navy below it
3) make sure it's all dry before you add the crackle

Those are the 3 things I'd do differently. My nails remind me of being antiqued or something... not a huge fan but I wouldn't call it a complete fail because there are other things I can try with this manicure to improve the overall look.

Zoya: Stacy and Bronze Crackle

This is Zoya's Stacy.  Two coats later I had a very rich merlot red on my paws.  I'm not the biggest fan on the Zoya brushes... long and skinny, but I make it work for colors as awesome as this :) I got this polish from Amber C. over at Rainbows and Sparkles for her 50 follower giveaway.  Great color to win because I would never really lean towards getting a red. I still think I don't look great in them, but of course if I like a color, I will wear it and wear it with confidence! That's the fun of nail polish!





In continuing with my journey of trying out the new La rosa crackles I got, I picked up the bronze one for Stacy.  This crackle color is also very awesome.

It cracked well and also is one of the more shimmery ones. I included a close up of the bottle taken in my lightbox for you to see. I guess it looks a bit more gold in the pictures but I would say it's a cross between gold and bronze because it has that burnt orange that bronze has.

What do you guys think of this crackle? I like it over a rich creme color and the fact that it has shimmer/glitter and applies like a normal lacquer would, is all a huge plus. 




Do you think China Glaze and OPI get upset when other companies (and each other) come out with the polishes that have the same idea? As a consumer, I think having a choice is nice because these were less expensive and had more colors and easily available to me. Win all around.

La Rosa Purple Sparkly Crackle

 I seriously love this crackle polish. It's La Rosa. It's a random polish I found at the place I get all my polishes from. I had never heard of it before and this purple was the first one I had picked up. They have a TON of different colors: white, different blues, silver, black, purple, orange, golds, corals... you name it.



Most of them have shimmer too. This polish almost has a holo glitter in it, it's very faint, you can see different colors in the glitter. It's by far my favorite crackle I own.





It applies like regular polish as well and the consistency is that of a normal lacquer- it's not goopy.  It does not crack as fast as OPI Black Shatter but I like the way it looks much better.  I put it over China Glaze Platinum. I like this mani, I'm sure I'll find other polishes to wear the purple shimmery crackle over :D

Revlon: Espresso and La Rosa White Crackle

 Revlon's Espresso is so pretty! Forget Spring colors, I wear darks year round :)  I got this polish from Carolina at Colores de Carol in a giveaway.  I must say this is the second Revlon Top Speed polish I've tried and they're quite awesome.  They dry super fast and are highly pigmented.

Espresso is a rich brown and it has shimmer to it! I took a close up shot for you to enlarge and appreciate the shimmer. I applied two coats.


In an effort to try out the new La Rosa crackles that I got, I ruined this mani. I have to say, I am NOT a fan of white crackle.  It looks like there is just white out or house paint on your nails. 




Also, the white did not crack as well as the other colors I have from them.  Thought I'd share the fail picture with you guys but seriously, just admire Espresso because it is very pretty :D
