Nicole by OPI: Coca Cola 2015 Swatches

Hi Monkeys, some NOPI swatches for you today!

Silvery, shimmery, sparkly. with sparks of red. It is on the thinner side of the formula, and took a third coat for opaque coverage, but so worth it.

Hands down my favorite of the collection! (three thin coats over matte  & OPI top coat).

This is one of those tricky in the bottle colors that hint and greatness, but really shine when it's on the nail. It's a got a deep shimmer that is just amazing and a formula to match. Two easy coats over matte nail envy and Opi top coat. The inset is using a flash, check out how much it changes!

 

Ah, a shiny, glowy red. What's not to like, it's a classic! Two easy coats, only a hint of wanting to streak, but didn't.  And, because I was feeling festive... isn't this going to be perfect come December topped with Seriously Citrus? (Matte NE base and OPI Top Coat)

Ah, my favorite shade of orange! Tangy, bright, but not neon. However, this was a little finicky to apply. It wanted to be streak, it was a little thin, but in the end it was worth the extra work. This was three thin coats, and it smoothed nicely with a layer or top coat. 

A perfect juicy grape purple. It's a super smooth formula, and was rich and opaque after two coats. 

I wasn't sure about the Seriously Citrus glitter topper, but it was amazing over In Grape Demand. Great density, without being too much, I didn't have to dab and dot it laid down perfectly in one coat.

Some NOPI Chevrons

I'm absolutely in love with this mani. I wore it for a record 7 days too before it started to chip away. I used NOPI Lay It On The Lime as my base then used chevron vinyls to "tape off" the pattern and coated it with The Coral Of The Story, then peeled the vinyls off. I'm really digging the chevrons again and using nail vinyls instead of stamping the pattern, allow you to do so many more top colors. This mani was super summery and bright and I received many compliments on it throughout the week. Win.

 The perfect summer coral but it's jazzed up by bring bright!

 Bright neon creme that's limey lemon, 2 coats with no visible nail line.

 A candy pink creme that is subtle and cheery, 2 coats. 

A complex and dense glitter that includes various sizes of silver and medium holographic pieces, this could probably be opaque on it's on in 2 coats but it's also a great topper. 

These are all available now and the formula on them was the usual greatness from OPI\NOPI. They also have the wide brush which I appreciate. Dry time was good on all these as well and were opaque in 2 easy coats. I did some nail art with them that I'll show you in tomorrow's post as well.

Jamberry Mani- Mixed Media\Patterns

Hi Monkeys, I had some friends over for a Jamberry party and thought I'd share 2 manis that I did. The idea was to have mixed textures, patterns and colors- a mixed media mani. While I don't remember the exact colors used, I can give you an idea of how to achieve the look.

First up was a simple skittle mani using mostly the OPI Brazil collection (the index finger is the new NOPI core collection purple). Jamberry accent was an animalish print with a multi colored gradient underneath so I played off of those colors. Very Spring inspired and fun!

Next up was more of a mixed media mani and I love how this turned out. The accent finger is Jamberry- it's a minty green with yellow polka dots. The little finger is Don't Bossa Nova Me Around (OPI Brazil) with three matte black rhinestones, the middle is Zoya Cosmo (Magical Pixie), index finger is OPI 4 In The Morning (Gwen Stefani) with two light blue rhinestones, top coated then matted.. the thumb was Milani white as a base followed by chevron nail vinyls painted over in Milani Black Swift, then removed to show the chevron design.

Each mani is quite different and unique. I like each for completely opposite reasons: the first for the pops of color and who doesn't like a skittle mani, and the second for the mixed patterns and textures.

Overall, two pretty cool manis.

Valentine's Gel Mani

Hi Monkeys, Happy Valentine's Day and... TGIF! I have my current mani for you today. I used IBD Whipped Cream for the white gel (love this and opaque in 2 coats with no spotting), and for the black I used Black Lava (this one is tricky, 3 thin coats is much better). I then used some cute kissy lip stamps and a hot pink from the NOPI Carrie Underwood collection to stamp. For my thumb and ring fingers, I tried something new- foil over the gel. I did a heart design with the glue adhesive, let it dry, then put the foil on and top coated it. I really like how shiny foils are and with gel over it, they stay for a long time. If this lasts for a week, then it's all worth the time and effort to take it off :)

Interlocking Mani- pink and black #NOPI

 I have an interlocking mani for you today! I started with a base of NOPI Something About Spring. I really love this cheery pink and it is a perfect hue to go with black stamping. I used BM 412. The image came out alot larger than I thought it would using my squishy stamper. I should have used a regular Konad stamper that doesn't flex and spread as much in order to get more of the design. Overall though, it's a cool look in passing and you can't go wrong with this pink and black combo.

Finger Paints: Abstract Attraction and some layering

Hi Monkeys, today I have for you one of the new Finger Paint flakies- Abstract Asylum. I think this one will turn out to be my favorite but we'll see. I love the blue and orange\red flakes that shift to a green\yellow. It's also pretty dense so you don't have to worry too much about not having enough, I did one coat but feel free to do two if you want lots of flakies. I layered an old FP flakie, Asylum, over it for even more color and I love this combo, but it's kind of hard to go wrong with Asylum because it has the blues and yellow flakes but it shifts much more and creates a firey display on the nail. My base is NOPI The Blue is So You from the new 2014 additions, it's a deep deep navy.

NOPI: Dove Chocolate Sweepstakes- Info and Swatches!

Remember when I told you about the Dove Sweepstakes? Well, I have the polishes for you today, and I'll tell you about the chocolate and sweepstakes afterwards.

 Better After Dark is a reddish chocolate shimmer, I did two flawless coats and it's as smooth as..... Dove chocolate.

Promises in the Dark is a deep brown that looks black. This creme is a two coater and settles nicely.

These came to me with a package of Dove Dark Chocolate and Salted Caramel Squares.... If there were any left, I'd show you but.... they're gone, all of them... and they were delicious. I really enjoy dark chocolate, the darker the better so it was obvious the creamy silky texture of Dove chocolates is a favorite of mine. The salted caramels were in dark chocolate and was a great compliment to the creamy caramel. The filling melted in your mouth and was not stringy when you bite into it, perfect!

Layering with the new Carrie Underwood Collection

I recently had on a layered mani using.. glitter. I hate glitter unless it's gel because it's so hard to get off and gels you have to soak off anyways so it's worth it. I started with the great greenish blue dusty shade Goodbye Shoes from the NOPI Carrie Underwood collection and topped my accent finger with a glitter from the same called Sing You Like A Bee (love this on it's own and matted btw), then topped all with one coat each of Nubar Black Polka Dots and White Polka Dots. It's a simple but easy and relatively fast mani to do. The Nubar glitters weren't that bad to take off so in that sense, it was a win.
